Klass-ik is an online learning and Afro-Caribbean documentary platform based in French Guiana. In August 2026, we built it on WordPress and Tutor LMS: courses with quizzes and certificates, a trainer marketplace and a free documentary library, all published in six languages, including Arabic and Chinese.
The specification described a hybrid platform. Klass-ik wanted to sell online courses, host external trainers publishing their own courses, stream Afro-Caribbean documentaries and issue certificates. Three roles had to work side by side: the Klass-ik team, trainers and learners.
One rule runs through the whole project: no trainer content goes live without the team’s approval. Courses, documentaries submitted by visitors and articles all go through a moderation step. The catalogue is organised into eight broad families, from tech and languages to agriculture and trades.
Courses, quizzes, certificates and revenue sharing with trainers run on Tutor LMS Pro, with payments through Stripe. We ruled out WooCommerce: the project handles no invoices, no subscriptions and no multiple currencies, the three needs that would have justified adding it. One plugin fewer means less maintenance.
Documentaries are not courses. People watch them and save them as favourites, with no progress to track. So we developed a dedicated plugin, independent of the theme: rows by category, a built-in player, favourites, and film submissions from visitors with a rights declaration and approval step. Documentaries remain free.
The interface relies on an Elementor design system of 34 variables and 49 reusable classes, with Klass-ik’s gold as the accent colour. Every page can be rebuilt identically by script.
The site is published in French, English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic and Simplified Chinese. Pages, documentaries, legal pages, menus and the text of the custom plugins are all translated. The Arabic version reads right to left, with a mirrored layout.
Rather than buying translation credits, we set up a reusable pipeline: content is exported to structured files, translated by an AI model, then imported automatically and linked to the French page. A script then rewrites each copy’s internal links to the URLs of its own language.
The platform has kept evolving in response to Klass-ik’s requests, through custom plugins built on the same model as the documentary module.
Because Tutor LMS Pro already handles course sales, Stripe payments and revenue sharing with trainers. WooCommerce would only have added invoicing, subscriptions and multi-currency support, three needs the project does not have. Without it, the platform is simpler to maintain.
No. The Afro-Caribbean documentaries are free to watch and will stay that way, by design. Visitors can submit films as long as they declare that they hold the rights. Every submission is approved by the Klass-ik team before it is published.
It fills in the quote request form, which adapts to the number of trainees and to distance learning. The Klass-ik team prices the request in the back office and sends the quote as a PDF in one click. The quote is written in French, while the acknowledgement is translated.
Through an in-house pipeline: content is exported, translated by an AI model, then re-imported and automatically linked to its French page. The same pipeline is reused for every new piece of content, and it required no paid translation credits.
